Could Holiday Meals Be Making Us Sick

Thanksgiving is a time of family, gratitude, and, of course, food. But for many, it also marks the beginning of a season filled with colds, flu, and digestive issues. Why does this occur? Allow me to explain.

The culprits often lurk in plain sight on your holiday table: gluten and sugar.

The Problem with Gluten:

Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye, and oats. For many individuals, perhaps even most, gluten wreaks havoc on the gut lining, leading to inflammation and damage to the tiny villi tentacles in the intestines that are essential for nutrient absorption. When these villi tentacles are damaged, your body struggles to absorb the vital nutrients it needs to maintain optimal health.

At Thanksgiving, traditional stuffing, rolls, pies, and even gravies abound with gluten. Most people are unaware of what gluten is doing to their bodies, but if you're gluten sensitive or gluten intolerant, this can result in bloating, digestive discomfort, and an immune response that increases your vulnerability to illness.

Sugar: A Hidden Immunity Killer

Now, let's address sugar. The Thanksgiving table often overflows with sweetened cranberry sauces, candy yams, desserts, and sugary beverages. Excess sugar dampens the immune system, impacting your body's ability to fend off viruses and bacteria. Sugar also nurtures harmful gut bacteria, disrupting your microbiome—the cornerstone of your immune health.

Combining gluten and sugar creates a formidable challenge. Your immune system is weakened, your gut health is impaired, and your body lacks the nutrients it needs for recovery.

How to Stay Healthy This Thanksgiving

Here's how you can enjoy the holiday without compromising your health:

1. Go Gluten-Free: Substitute traditional stuffing and bread with gluten-free options made from almond flour or rice. Choose mashed sweet potatoes or roasted vegetables over rolls.

2. Minimize Sugar: Opt for naturally sweetened dishes using alternatives like stevia or monk fruit. Concentrate on whole, fresh foods rather than sugary, processed ones.

3. Prioritize Nutrients: Ensure your Thanksgiving meal is rich in nutrient-dense choices like green beans, collard greens, turkey, and salads with healthy fats such as grass-fed butter or ghee.

4. Supplement Smart: Despite an ideal diet, you can't obtain all the nutrients you need from food alone, especially given today's depleted soil. Take your 90 essential nutrients daily for immune support and overall wellness.

Thanksgiving doesn't have to derail your health. With some careful selections, you can savor the holiday, bolster your body, and step into the winter season feeling robust and lively.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Antioxidant Nutrients

Better than my morning Cup of Joe

Antioxidants are special natural nutrients that help protect our cells by neutralizing harmful "free radicals" in our bodies. Typically, electrons are found in pairs, but when molecules break apart, they create single, overactive, and unstable molecules known as free radicals. Since "free radicals" are molecules with an unpaired electron, nutrients like antioxidants neutralize them by donating some of their own electrons. This electron donation process acts as a natural "off" switch for the free radicals, preventing them from causing cellular damage and inflammation.

Sources of antioxidants

The body produces certain antioxidants, yet many plant foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, and whole food nutritional supplements are rich in these substances. Dietary antioxidants include vitamins A, C, and E, alongside compounds like beta-carotene and lycopene. Consuming a diet abundant in antioxidants may help diminish the risk of oxidative stress and damage caused by free radicals.

Measurements of antioxidants

Always try to find out the "ORAC Score" of the food source or nutritional supplement that you're consuming if you can. "ORAC" stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity and is a measure of a food's antioxidant activity. ORAC measures how well a food protects cells from damage caused by free radicals. Typically, the higher the ORAC score, the greater the antioxidant activity of the food or supplement source.

I always advocate for people to consume their fruits and vegetables. However, it's important to understand that if these foods don't come from a quality soil source, the plants, fruits, and vegetables may be deficient in the minerals and other nutrients necessary to support a robust and accurate ORAC score. For more information on soil nutrient deficiencies, visit https://90hive.com/post/minerals-are-essential Consulting with a good Naturopathic (ND) doctor, Osteopathic (DO) doctor, or a holistic health coach can help you find the ORAC score that best suits you.

Why Zradical Fucoidan is Different

Zradical's wellness juice provides a powerful blend of pure fucoidan, vitamins, and beneficial botanicals designed to support the immune system, cardiovascular function, healthy blood glucose levels, skin tissue, and more. You can find many published research articles on the nutritional value and support benefits from Wolfberry (aka Goji berries), Yumberry, Milk Thistle, and Turmeric found in Zradical. Now, just imagine drinking a serving of all these nutrients along with a serving of pure fucoidan—not just any fucoidan, but fucoidan from the pristine waters of New Zealand.

So people may ask, what exactly is Fucoidan, and why Fucoidan from the waters of New Zealand? Here are two concise explanations from medical researchers found on the US Government's National Center for Biotechnology Information website. Although there are over 2,000 published research articles about Fucoidan, we'll look at just two below:

1. "Fucoidan is a polysaccharide largely made up of l-fucose and sulfate groups. Fucoidan is favorable worldwide, especially amongst the food and pharmaceutical industry as a consequence of its promising therapeutic effects. Its applaudable biological functions are ascribed to its unique biological structure. Classical bioactivities associated with fucoidan include anti-oxidant, anti-tumor, anti-coagulant, anti-thrombotic, immunoregulatory, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory effects…" See the entire research article titled "What is Fucoidan and therapeutic effects of Fucoidan" at https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31438588/

2. "In this study, we examined five fucoidans extracted from the same seaweed species Undaria pinnatifida but from different geological locations, and compared them to the laboratory-grade fucoidan from Sigma (S) – In conclusion, the fucoidan extracted from the New Zealand U. pinnatifida contains a unique LMWF, which could effectively Inhibit The Growth of…" See the entire research article titled "Fucoidan Extracted from the New Zealand Comparison against Five Other Fucoidans" at https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30469516/

All Nutritional Products Are Not Created Equal

Insufficient intake or unbalance of essential nutrients can significantly increase the risk of developing various chronic diseases such as but not limited to heart disease, type 2 blood disorders, certain cancers, bone disease, some neurological conditions and many others.

With so many health and wellness companies offering thousands of products, how do we decide which ones to choose? Whether we select items based on the company's reputation, personal experience, recommendations, or other factors, the underlying principles and quality should play a significant role in our nutritional supplement choices. Just because a wholistic health coach, dietitian, or doctor suggests a product from a certain company, it doesn't guarantee that you will achieve the desired benefits you seek.

A poor diet lacking essential nutrients can disrupt vital bodily functions, including absorption, extraction, and utilization processes. Ensuring a balanced diet with sufficient and quality vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and essential fatty acids, along with corresponding essential cofactors, is crucial for optimal health and disease prevention. If you believe you can obtain all essential nutrients from your diet, I strongly encourage you to listen to the "Wellness Lecture" link at the bottom of this blog.

Your body is basically like your house foundation of health, and its strength is contingent upon the nutrient foundation it is constructed from. Not all supplements are created equal; they vary due to differing foundational beliefs. I have collaborated with several wellness companies and have been approached by many others, yet some still fail to understand the breadth of essential nutrients discovered to date. Numerous doctors and medical industry professionals advocate for building your nutritional foundation on an array of 90 essential nutrients, supporting your quest for optimal health and wellness.

The doctor featured in the video below shares his thoughts and opinions on whom he considers provides the best quality products in the health and wellness industry, a belief validated by his use of these very products in his medical practice to this day. As a certified Holistic Health Coach, quality control, clinical testing, and high absorbability are among my primary considerations when selecting nutritional products. However, don't solely rely on my word. Tap the video link below and listen to Dr. Peter Glidden's perspective.

How Many Essential Nutrients Are There

A "deficiency of essential nutrients in the human body" refers to a condition where the body does not have enough of a or multiple vital nutrient, like vitamins or minerals, needed for proper functioning and good health, which can lead to serious health issues. One of my favorite quotes from a 1962 Nobel Prize winner name Mr. Linus Pauling said “You can trace every sickness, every disease, and every ailment to a mineral deficiency.” We all know about the basic vitamins but seem to be clueless on  minerals, trace minerals and trace-trace minerals and their importance. Nutrients are essential in so many ways.

Please take time to view my blog to learn more about the Essential Nutrients and where you can get the actual name of each nutrient. Now is your time to visit https://90hive.com/post/essential-nutrients
