Essential Minerals Are Essential

Minerals play a very key role in our health. The depletion of the essential minerals in our soils has been discussed and have been known for years. Senate Document 264 titled Anemic Earth, was submitted to the US Senate in 1936 by Rex Beach as part of a Congressional investigation into farming practices. The document discussed Dr. Charles Northen's research on the mineral depletion of American soil and its impact on human health.

Then in 1992 Earth Summit reported that soil mineral depletion was a major concern, with North America experiencing the highest depletion at 85%:

Report findings:

The report noted that mineral levels had declined dramatically over the previous 100 years, with Europe experiencing a 72% decline, Asia a 76% decline, and North America an 85% decline.

Impact on health:

The report highlighted that trace minerals are important for human health and function, including warding off disease, proper organ function, and fighting cancer-causing free radicals.

Causes of depletion:

The report noted that the diet has changed dramatically since the 1940s, with more processed food and less natural, whole food.

As you can see that minerals play a very key role in our health. The depletion of minerals in our soils has been discussed for years. If our soils are lacking the essential minerals then so are the foods we eat. If you think you can get all of your nutrition from the foods that you eat, someone didn't see this video. Magnesium The Indispensable Mineral

According to Dr. Wallach, we know there are 60 essential minerals necessary for optimal health. Minerals are necessary for a variety of functions within the body and having any mineral deficiency poses an imbalance and jeopardizes your heath. While all of the 60 essential minerals are important, magnesium is more than just essential. Necessary for over 300 chemical reactions in the body, magnesium plays an exceedingly important role in your health. However, an estimated 70-80% of the U.S. population does not consume enough magnesium in their diets.

Just recently, the results of a study from The Netherlands revealed that daily magnesium supplementation (350 mg of magnesium citrate) may reduce the stiffness of arteries in overweight and obese adults.1 Previous studies have also found that adequate magnesium intake helps keep the heart rhythm steady, supports healthy blood pressure, and also reduces one’s risk of heart disease and stroke. Additionally, magnesium deficiencies have been associated with metabolic syndrome (high blood pressure, high blood sugar, unhealthy cholesterol levels, and abdominal fat). Individuals with the highest average intake of magnesium were at 31% lower risk of metabolic syndrome.

Aside from supporting cardiovascular health, magnesium is also a powerful mineral when it comes to bone health. Previous research has shown it to be beneficial in the prevention of osteoporosis; playing a vital role in bone formation and supporting healthy bone density; which is especially important in aging adults. About 50 – 60% of the magnesium in your body is stored in your bones.

We could spend an entire day going over the 300 reactions that magnesium is involved in. From energy production to immune system heath to glucose metabolism, magnesium is necessary for hundreds of areas in the body. Previous research has found that healthy magnesium levels in the body play a vital role in helping you adapt to rhythms of night and day; supporting a good night’s rest.2 This only solidifies that magnesium is needed everywhere.

Although magnesium can be found naturally in many vegetables, fruits, nuts and legumes, the best way to ensure you’re getting your necessary dose of magnesium, is through supplementation. CAL Toddy™ contains 600 mg of magnesium, in addition to abundant amounts of calcium, magnesium, zinc and manganese. Taken in the evening, CAL Toddy™ can also support healthy sleep and muscle recovery for those participating in strenuous exercise sessions.

Make sure you’re getting your daily dose of Magnesium! Prevention is the key!
